These Indian fried yummy fritters are delicious as a starter or a side dish with your Indian meal.
Ingredients:
2 Red Onions
100 g Chickpea Flour / Gram Flour
150 ml Water
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tbsp Madras Curry Powder
1/2 tsp Chili Powder
Salt and Pepper
Oil for frying
Method:
1. Slice your onions very thin – if you have a mandolin that would work perfectly.
2. In a bowl sift the flour and add the baking powder, curry powder, and chili powder.
3. Mix in the water slowly until you have a think batter.
4. Add a good pinch of salt and pepper to the mixture.
5. Add the onions to the mixture and stir so that all the onion is coated in the batter.
6. Heat about an inch of oil in a large pan or wok.
7. Add a little pinch of batter to the oil and if it starts to bubble and brown the oil is hot enough to start frying.
8. Using a heaped tablespoon add some of the onion mix into the pan, a few at a time tablespoons at a time. Don’t over crowd the pan.
9. Cook for a few minutes (3-4 mins) on each side until they are golden brown.
10. Remove and drain on some kitchen roll.
